Application of Runjing Ceramic Hard Sealing Ball Valve in Arsenic Removal System

Arsenic and its compounds are highly toxic and can cause poisoning when too much arsenic is ingested. Among them, arsenic trioxide is a white frosty powder. The chemical formula is As2O3, which is highly toxic. 5mg ~ 50mg (oral intake) will cause poisoning, 60mg ~ 100mg (oral intake) will cause death. Drinking water or food containing arsenic for a long time will also accumulate in the human body and damage the health of the body.

Arsenic trioxide

A nursing home in Xinmin City, Shenyang, China, is located in a remote area, with no tap water in the city and no surface water nearby. Only groundwater can be used for domestic water. After testing, the arsenic content in the groundwater there is 0.12mg/L, which exceeds the limit of 0.01mg/L stipulated in China's GB/T 5749-2006 "Standards for drinking water quality". The water there needs to be used after arsenic removal. Due to the water is turbid, it needs to be treated with a multi-media filter that removes sediment before removing arsenic.


There are 260 people living in the nursing home, and the daily water consumption is about 15.6m3 . According to the average daily work of the equipment for 8 hours, it is equipped with an 8m3 water purification tank as a buffer. Therefore, the arsenic removal water treatment equipment is designed with a water treatment capacity of 2m3/h.


When using JM-2 filter material to remove arsenic, a lower exchange flow rate should be set, generally 4m/h, and the pH value of the inlet water should be adjusted to 8.5-9.0. It is equipped with a FRP tank with a diameter of 1.0m and a height of 2.4m. The tank is filled with JM-2 filter material for arsenic removal. Runjing DN25 ceramic hard sealing ball valve and controller are optional, and a ball valve is installed at the water outlet of the control valve to adjust the water output to the designed flow. In the early stage of operation, the arsenic content in the outlet water is sampled every 2 hours; when the water treatment cycle is approaching, the arsenic content in the outlet water is detected once every hour; when the arsenic content in the outlet water exceeds the standard, it means that the filter material is saturated and needs to be regenerated to restore the adsorption capacity of the filter material. The system has been running well since it was installed and put into use, and the arsenic content in the outlet water has reached the standard value.


The process flow of the water treatment system is: arsenic-containing groundwater → frequency conversion pump → multi-media filter for removing sediment → pH adjustment device → arsenic removal equipment (with regeneration device) → water purification tank → water use.
